    Cadet Practice Sailing on Saturday Mornings

    From 24th August, until at least the end of September there will be 'Cadet Practice Sailing' sessions running alongside the normal Saturday morning Practice Sailing - this may be extended, if suitable weather and interest is maintained. These are not training sessions, it is just about having fun on the water. During the sessions they will be a series of games and small races that all have the aim of increasing proficiency.     Bar Closed 17th & 18th August

    Due to the (NOW CANCELLED) Overnight Cruise/no Racing this coming weekend, the bar will not be open on Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime. Do not forget it is still open for the DIY BBQ and Cowes Fireworks on Friday evening (16th). Please book for this event or it will not be worth lighting

    Overnight Cruise - 16 to 18 August - SORRY NOW CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST

    A very constructive planning/briefing meeting was held on Tuesday 6 August and the programme agreed is outlined below. Currently 21 members intend to take part in the cruise. 16 will sail to Corf Scout Camp on Friday and one will drive there. They will be joined on Saturday by another 4 Seafarers.     Enjoy the Aerial Display and Fireworks Replete and in Comfort - Friday 16 August

    Cowes Week is the oldest and largest annual sailing regatta in the world. Since its earliest days, a spectacular fireworks display has been held on the final Friday.     IFA2 - Cable Laying Paused

    The cable laying vessel, NP 289 (pictured above), has just completed laying the fifth of the six HVAC cables from Chilling to Monks Hill Beach. With high winds forecast over the next few days, the barge has now been moved to shelter in Southampton. NP 289 will return to lay the sixth and final cable after Cowes Week on 18th August.     Commodore's Challenge - Update

    The Commodore's Challenge was held at the end of July. The Commodore is grateful to everyone who helped make the event such a success. We had 34 boats on the water competing in a single start for the Half Ton and Under Half Ton Cups. Wetwheels, the Club's chosen charity for this year, kindly provided the Committee Vessel.     Club Fusion - "Nicky"

    In May, Seafarers Sailing Club was loaned a Fusion dinghy. Over the next few weeks, many Club members sailed the Fusion and provided lots of positive feedback. In June the Club received a very generous donation from the Wadham family. This was in recognition of, and as a memorial to, the life of Nicky Dunk (nee Wadham).     Accident Involving RS Venture Connect

    The RYA have published a notice relating to the capsize of an RS Venture Connect sailing boat on Windermere on 13 June which resulted in the death of one of the crew.
