Duties

The Club is a non-commercial, non-profit making organisation and is run entirely by volunteers.

One member from each membership (i.e. one per family) is obliged to serve as a member of a Duty Crew five times per year. The job of the Duty Crew is to run Club races. As a member of a Duty Crew, you act as Beach Crew, Patrol Boat Driver/Crew, Tractor Driver, Officer of the Day or Deputy Officer of the Day.The Club is unable to function without you; this is also a great opportunity to get to know other members. Duties occur on race days on Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings. If you are unable to attend for an assigned duty, you will need to arrange a substitute. Cadet Members and Student Members (away at university) are not required to carry out Duty Crews.

Other events (socials, training, cruising, practice sailing and maintenance) are also run by volunteers. There is no obligation to help with these.

More Details or Ready to Apply?

If you are ready to apply or want more details, go to Membership Details & Apply Online (use link or press menu button which is on the right or via "More" for smartphone users).

Once you have applied, you will be invited for an informal visit to the Club. This will give you an opportunity to ask any questions, be shown around and learn something of how the Club operates and make sure the Seafarers is right for you.

Your application will be presented to the Management Committee at their next meeting (monthly) for confirmation of membership.

Still not sure? Maybe you just have a question. If you have a question about membership, then why not email the Membership Secretary? He knows most stuff......about the Seafarers.
