Cowes Week Fireworks & DIY BBQ

16th August 2019, 18:30 - 22:00

Cowes Week is the oldest and largest annual sailing regatta in the world. Since its earliest days, a spectacular fireworks display has been held on the final Friday. Although 5 miles away, Hill Head provides an excellent spot from which to enjoy the event.

The clubhouse and bar will be open from 6:30pm. Bring your own meat, salads, bread etc. This year salads and bread will not be provided for the DIY barbecue so please bring all your own food - meat, salads, bread, etc. The barbecue should be hot enough for cooking to begin at 7pm.

Although there will be no charge to cover the cost of the barbecue, please book via WebCollect so we know it's worth lighting up.

As the RAF's Red Arrows are on an extensive tour of North America, they will not be performing at Cowes Week this year. However, at 7:30pm there will be an aerial display performed by the RAF Typhoon Display Team. The traditional end of Cowes Week Fireworks display begins at 9:30pm.

The end of the firework display can mark the start of traffic jam particularly in the Salterns car park as hundreds of spectators head for home. (Moral: Don't park your car at the Salterns even if there is space when you arrive.)
