Update from Committee

Booklet - Hard Copy

The Diamond Jubilee booklet was published last month. It can be downloaded from the ARCHIVES menu. The Committee feels that some members might like a professionally-printed, A4-size, colour copy of the Diamond Jubilee booklet . Acknowledging the impact of Covid-19 restrictions on our programme last year, booklets would be offered for a small voluntary donation rather than at the cost price of £5. If you are a member and this is something that you are interested in, please let the Commodore know.

Community Lottery

Another initiative that might be of interest to members is the Fareham Community Lottery. The first draw will be on Saturday 13 March. For details, refer to the Community Lottery page. It would be very useful if a member, or more, would be willing to take the lead ie help publicise this and in so doing help raise funds for the Club. If you would like to be our "Lottery Coordinator", please let the Commodore know. (Volunteer and you can choose your own title)

2021 Programme

The Programme for 2021 is now on the website. With uncertainty around the easing of lockdown, April has been kept flexible. A full sailing programme has been planned but the duty crews will be based on members volunteering on an ad hoc basis. By starting the formal duty crew roster a month late, it will be possible to continue racing until later in the season than usual. The social programme similarly starts with informal open air events and builds to more adventurous options later in the season. Cruising is also included and might offer the best way to 'escape' in the early stages of exiting lockdown. Training will be included in the Programme but further guidance from the RYA is needed before bookings can be offered.

Safety and Briefings

As we return to sailing, safety will be paramount with regard to both Covid-19 and getting afloat again. We will all be a bit rusty, both in the roles we undertake as volunteers and also in our own sailing. The water will also be cold and social distancing will still be a factor. Members should look out for the briefings that the Commodore and Vice Commodore will be providing. These are in the Programme (and, therefore, in Upcoming Events on the Home page) and will be designed to enhance members enjoyment as they 'rush' to make the most of the forthcoming season.
