The annual race between Seafarers, Hill Head and Lee on the Solent sailing clubs was held off Hill Head Sailing Club on Sunday 7th July. The results of this race are now available.

The SLOSHH provides an opportunity to compete with our fellow sailors from nearby clubs and to race against different boats. All members are encouraged to take part regardless of experience or skill; the main reason to take part is to have fun. The scoring system, agreed between the participating clubs several years ago, was designed to "encourage and reward greater participation". As set out in the Sailing Instructions, to achieve this "the SLOSHH trophy is awarded on the basis of a modified mean position. i.e. the sum of each club`s finishing position is divided by the number of finishers. Their mean position is then discounted by 2% times the number of finishers in that club." This means the more of us that take part, the better our chance of winning the SLOSHH trophy.

On 7th July, 20 Seafarer helms made it to the start line to challenge 14 helms from Hill Head SC and 7 from Lee on the Solent SC. This produced 16 finishers for SSC, 10 for HHSC and 5 for LoSSC. Without the "participation discount", LoSSC would have won the trophy. However, with allowance made for our fantastic turnout, Seafarers SC won the 2019 SLOSHH Trophy.
