Shingle Banks and Soft Sand

Published 16:30 on 21 Mar 2021

One of the topics of discussion at the Commodore's Pre-season brief on 9 March was the state of the shingle banks near the slipway.

Three videos are now available from the website (MEDIA/Club Videos). One was taken from the top of the slipway. Another was taken from Salterns Road in line with the transit from 'Promenade Bench 7' to the basketball board. Each of these two video shows the beach at various states of the tide. A third video shows how far out the shingle banks go relative to the two outfalls near the Club.

In addition, four collections of photographs of the beach have been added to the Gallery. Three of the albums were taken from the same positions as the videos. A fourth album shows the location of an area of soft sand which should be avoided when pulling a boat.
